We were asked, "What's a great sounding audio package for both on-camera and out in the field?" Here is our answer: The DVcreator Location Sound Package 1 with the RODE NTG-2 shotgun mic. We were able to capture this great audio right outside our office.
DVeStore's most popular selling XLR shotgun microphone! The Rode NTG-2 is a condenser shotgun microphone designed for professional audio capturing in the field or indoors. With a history of manufacturing quality studio microphones, Rode has implemented low noise output electronics and wide bandwidth, both of which attribute to the NTG-2's broadcast sound quality.
The super-cardioid polar pattern and line plus gradient acoustic principle effectively minimize audio and noise at the off-axis (sides) of the microphone, while the front of the capsule accurately reproduces incoming audio signal. The result is greater intelligibility and signal-to-noise ratio when using the NTG-2 in noisy environments.
The NTG-2 is powered with an internal 1.5V AA size battery or an external +48 Volt phantom power source. The output is a standard 3-pin XLR male connector.
The microphone features a rugged, all metal, lightweight enclosure that is ideal for camera mounting yet durable enough to withstand the rigors of heavy road use. The Rode NTG-2 is packaged with a microphone stand mount and windscreen.
Battery Or Phantom Powered: The Rode NTG-2 can be powered with an internal 1.5V AA battery or external +48V phantom power source.
Super-Cardioid Polar Pattern: The super-cardioid polar pattern and line gradient acoustic principle allow for a narrow pick up pattern at the front of the capsule while minimizing noise at the off-axis sections.
Lightweight Durable Construction: The NTG-2 features a lightweight metal housing that is ideal for camera mounting.
Low Handling Noise: Low noise output electronics provide high signal-to-noise ratio. The NTG-2 is designed to also reduce noise caused by handling, rigid mounting hardware, loose cabling etc.
Rode's Boompole provides up to 10' of extension for shotgun microphones. The pole uses a 3/8" industry-standard thread and is designed to fit SM3 Shockmounts, RMS Stand Mounts (NT5, NTG-1 & NTG-2), and VideoMic. The five-section pole collapses down to 33" for easy portability.
Five sections adjust the length of the boom between 33" and 10'(84cm - 3 m).
The boom uses an industry-standard 3/8" thread, and mates with most shockmounts and stands.
SM3 Shockmounts, RMS Stand Mounts (NT5, NTG-1 & NTG-2), and VideoMic.
Audio-Technica is a leading manufacturer of audio cables, and their 3-pin XLR Male to 3-pin XLR Female Balanced Cable, 30-Foot and 15' are professional, premium-grade microphone cables perfect for all types of applications. The 2-conductor, shielded, broadcast-type cable can also be used to extend the length of an existing XLR connection. Look no further than the Audio-Technica XLR Male to XLR Female Balanced Cable for your professional audio cabling needs. Balanced XLR Connectors (M/F) At each end, XLR connectors either have three pins (M) or sockets (F) within a locking metal shell. They are commonly used in professional audio applications to connect microphones, mixers, recording equipment and other gear.
On typical XLR components, pin 1 is the +signal line, pin 2 is the -signal line and pin 3 is the ground/shield. This pin combination facilitates top-quality, low-noise, balanced audio, even across long-distance cable runs. Phantom Power XLR cables are also capable of carrying DC "phantom power" to microphones on both the plus and minus signal lines. Shotgun and lavaliere microphones typically use phantom power or must use on-board batteries. Shielded Ground The 3rd pin is connected to a copper-wound shield. Wrapped around the other two wires, this shield provides both an interference-blocking barrier and a grounded connection.
Additional Lengths This XLR cable is also available in additional cable lengths.
The K-Tek Zeppelin Fuzzy Shock Mount/Windscreen - Shoe Mount (Medium) features a layer of high-density open-cell foam bonded to a body of reticulated foam. There is also an outer layer of top-quality synthetic fur over a tough tight-weave fabric backing, which is permanently fitted over the foam structure. This special combination helps reduce wind noise. The shock mount component of the windscreen employs a specially formulated rubber holder attached to twin arms of machined, anodized aluminum.
The Zeppelin Fuzzy comes in various lengths -- short, medium, long and extra long. It can be attached to the microphone in a variety of ways -- via a pole mount, shoe mount or simply slide it on the microphone. K-Tek has anticipated all of your microphone windscreen needs.
Easy and Convenient The K-Tek one-piece windscreen/shock mount is ideal for ENG and EFP production as it is lightweight and durable. The windscreen component slides smoothly over the head of the microphone. After the windscreen is fitted, you can simply retract the microphone to attach the shock mount's rubber grip, which will accommodate microphones 17-25 mm in diameter. Once the microphone is firmly in place, the shock mount's positive locking mechanism secures it in position.
